Fishing paradise Stugun!
Stugun is a small village located in mid-northern Sweden. The Indalsälven River is located roughly 50 km east of Åre/Östersund Airport. The Indalsälven has a total length of 430 kilometres, making it one of Sweden’s longest rivers. A total of 26 hydroelectric power plants are placed along it. In the “ponds” between the power stations Northern Pike (Esox Lucius) are now growing both in numbers and size. We are now proud to offer you guided fishing in one of these giant ponds. Pike are not the only fish present in these waters: Large perch, trout, whitefish and grayling are also present! The stretch of river on which we guide is roughly 15 km in length and its width ranges from 100 - 6-700 metres.
We specialise in all sorts of fishing techniques such as spinning, trolling, fly fishing (which for pike is a thrilling experience!) and jerk bait. We fishing from a boat and also offer our guests the possibility of renting a boat and heading out alone. At least 3-4 tonnes of pike are caught each year but also a large number lot of trout, grayling, whitefish and perch. Stugun Pike Fishing Centre offers fishing for all the above mentioned species but Northern Pike is our favourite! Accommodation in comfortable, fully equipped log cabins (each sleeping 6 guests) is provided by Sweden Adventures ( http://www.swedenadventures.se/ ). We can also arrange transfers to/from the airport.
If you prefer not to fish in the river we will be happy to take you to any one of the numerous small forest lakes and streams found in the area (in this case small boats can be rented at the location as the roads leading there are too small to facilitate the transportation of the larger boats. The smaller boats can take 1-2 persons).
Fishing can be done almost all year round but from late October and onwards the days become colder and the pike harder to catch. Trout and whitefish are however still catchable.
The weather during the period December - February is too cold for fishing but by March the ice fishing (for all species) is good. There is no better way to spend a day than on a frozen lake, fishing for perch and pike in the warm, spring sun!
We also provide fishing for Arctic Char (Salmo Salvelinus) in several lakes in the area. These are best fished in the winter but are fishable during summer too. |
